The Wait For The Wii

Over a week since the Wii's initial launch and people including myself must wait overnight at Best Buy's Parking lot to get the chance of purchasing Nintendo's Next-gen Console.

We arrived on the scene at 3:45 to find that there are already over 15 people waiting in front of us with many more to soon follow. We had a long wait ahead of us, over 6 hours of waiting in weather likely to be in the low 20's, however, there were several wise men (and women) who bothered bringing a blanket to keep warm, I was not one of them. The wait had begun.

I of course brought several little gadgets to keep myself entertained such as my iPod, phone, and my camera (the one that took the pictures located at the bottom of the page). It seemed someone brought at least one game to help pass the time whether it be a deck of poker cards or a Nintendo DS everyone had something because of the the first few hour passed rather quickly.

At around 5 A.M it was nap time well for everyone but me (I slept before I came) the nap did not last long only about an hour but in the short period of time over 20 people came. One of which soon became a pest as she singled out of the the gentleman near the front of the line and accused him of cutting, which he did not but was in fact one the the earliest to begin the wait for the Wii.

You can always tell when you are waiting in a Nintendo line, every one is calm and fairly nice to one another and other than the one incident mentioned above everyone got along. So again the waiting began and like before went at an agonizingly slow pace.

Once 8 A.M rolled into place everyone was a buzz after all there was only 2 hours of waiting left. It was around this time when we were told exactly how many systems they had, there were 51 exactly and over 60 in the line but not to worry Best Buy had it all figured out with the use of Vouchers which would be handed out an hour before the great wait for the Wii ends. With my iPod's battery dieing we again began to wait quietly until the moment of truth is to be upon us.

With the near by chapels ringing the Sunday church bells we were handed our Vouchers with mine be number 123. It was at this time that the tall end of the land finally realized they came to late and would be unable to buy the Wii for little Timmy and the line seemed to be halved since all the blankets, pillows, and games had been placed safely into their owners cars. It was but 1 hour left till the wait for the Wii is over.

I swear we must have counted down each second of that hour impatiently waiting for the store is open sadly my iPod never was unable to see the Stores of Best buy open, the battery had finally died from overuse and the cold environment. The last half hour passed before our eyes as if it was ice on a hot summer day and finally, FINALLY it was 10 A.M. and the blue shirted workers were finishing up the last few preparations of opening the giant Best Buy store.

At 10:02 we were finally allow in with over 5 workers directing and many more explaining the buying process. After a moment I realized we had walked from one line to another, which happily took much less time. After another 5 minutes I had the Nintendo Wii in my hands and walking out the door.

A long night that ends with gold is always a good night.
