Activision announced today that artwork created by
26 members of the Tony Hawk's American SK8Land online community will
be included in forthcoming Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam for Nintendo DS
video game.
Selected from among more than 66,000 pieces of logo and
skateboard deck artwork submitted via the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection,
the winning images will be included in Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam as
design options along with artwork created by developer Vicarious
Visions.
"We're very impressed with number of entries we
received and the details fans put into these designs," said David
Nathanielsz, executive producer, Vicarious Visions. "In Tony Hawk's
Downhill Jam we are including a vastly improved art editor and expect
to see even more impressive artwork created by our amazing community,
which continues to grow month after month."
The winning pieces of artwork and all submitted entries can be viewed at www.american-sk8land.com.
Tony
Hawk's Downhill Jam for DS will employ a next-generation art editor
with exciting new features, including the ability to create art for the
look of a player's skate. For the first time gamers will have full
control over the design of their skater's clothing. Players will also
have the ability to share outfits with other community members over the
Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.
For the first time ever, Tony Hawk's
Downhill Jam for DS allows players to experience the breakneck speed of
downhill skateboard racing as they tear up the steepest terrains in the
world while performing tricks and outmaneuvering opponents in locations
such as the crowded streets of San Francisco and rocky terrain of Machu
Picchu. Gamers will feel the adrenaline rush as they travel the globe
and shred downhill with Tony Hawk while making the gravel and dust fly.
Featuring cutting edge Nintendo DS technology, such as breakthrough
graphics, voice chat, and local wireless and online gameplay using the
Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection for up to four players, Tony Hawk's Downhill
Jam for Nintendo DS delivers an incredible online handheld experience.
