World Series Of Video Games Announces UK Gaming Championship, Presented By Intel

Worldwide Stars Gather For UK Leg Of Video Games Showdown
The World Series of Video Games presented by Intel announces today that
the upcoming Major event on the World Series of Video Games circuit
will be entitled the "UK Gaming Championship". The event will be held
at the London Trocadero in Piccadilly Circus, October 6-8, 2006. Hours
of operation are 10-10 Friday and Saturday, and 12-5 on Sunday.
The
event, the fifth on the World Series of Video Games' 2006 season, will
feature professional gaming tournaments in Counter-Strike 1.6, Quake 4
and Warcraft III: Frozen Throne. Attendees of the event can compete in
these tournaments or watch the world's best gamers as they battle for
over $40,000 in cash and prizes. The top gamers from around the world
are flying in for the event, including Fatal1ty, Stermy, Toxic, Team
Fnatic and England's own 4 Kings. The UK Gaming Championship will also
feature new games and technologies, prizes and free giveaways from an
array of sponsors including Intel, Fatal1ty Brands led by Creative, and
ATI. Held on three floors of the Trocadero, the event will have a
tournament area and Intel will have an experiential zone open for free
gaming and walk-on tournaments for everybody throughout the weekend.
There
will be a Music and Games Party on Saturday night from 7pm-10pm,
featuring a DJ and a "Miss World Series of Video Games" contest. Entry
to the party will be open to all those who link the World Series of
Video Games among their top friends at the event's MySpace page
(uk.myspace.com/thewsvg).
The UK Gaming Championship will also
be a featured part of The London Games Festival, supported by Creative
London and several high-profile media and retail partners. This
week-long celebration offers a series of events across multiple
locations showcasing the hottest games, seminars and people helping to
shape the fastest growing entertainment industry. At the World Series
event, the London Games Festival will host a lounge for viewing the
staged tournaments, which will feature the art installation
[giantJoystick], the World's Largest Joystick at 3 metres and actually
playable.
